Torontonians are invited to welcome and celebrate newcomers at the 10th annual Toronto Newcomer Day in Nathan Phillips Square at City Hall. The festivities include a showcase of cultural performances, a Citizenship ceremony for new Canadians, diverse foods, and much more. Newcomers can meet representatives from local organizations and learn about services that will support their settlement in Toronto.

First proclaimed in 2015, Toronto Newcomer Day is an annual event to welcome and inform newcomers on how to access a range of services, celebrate and showcase their contributions to the city.

Music from Hope: Creating Connection

Start times: 10 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Reflect on your culture through music to express yourself, network with your peers and find sanctuary, resilience and strength.

HistoricTO Neighbourhood Guided Tours

Start times: 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Join a 30-minute walking tour of the neighbourhood surrounding City Hall.

New Constellation

Start times: 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m. 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Join other participants to create a collaborative art installation reminiscent of constellations.

Indigenous Painting Workshop

Join to learn about Indigenous land-based knowledge, while painting mini canvases of local Indigenous plants

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Toronto Newcomer Day, the City of Toronto Newcomer Office is hosting an official Toronto Newcomer Day launch event. Join us for an evening dedicated to honouring newcomers in the workforce, showcasing newcomer contributions, and celebrating their journey in our vibrant community.

Homeland Memories: An Exhibit

Explore newcomer artists’ memories and ties to their homeland through their captured reflections and personal narratives, and come to understand the importance of preserving cultural heritage through art. Curated by Serene Chan, this exhibit is hosted by the Toronto Arts Foundation’s Neighbourhood Arts Network along with the City of Toronto and Sketch Toronto.

Travel by GO Train or GO Bus to Union Station, then walk or take TTC to Nathan Phillips Square. Take advantage of GO Weekday Group Passes . Kids aged 12 and under always ride for free.

UP Express

Travel between Pearson Airport and Union Station with UP Express , then transfer to the TTC to get to Nathan Phillips Square. Kids aged 12 and under ride for free.
