These Toronto parks will have free outdoor movies all summer long
Summer is in the air, we can feel it! Toronto’s beloved summer tradition of free movies in the park is back this June. Toronto Outdoor Picture Show (TOPS) will host its 21-date open-air outdoor movie specials at four parks across the city. Here’s what to know.
From June 19th to August 25th, TOPS will take over Fort York, Christie Pits, Corktown Common, and Bell Manor Park for evenings of movies under the stars.
It’ll kick off its movie series at Fort York on June 19th, with the classic flick 9 to 5 featuring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton.
This year’s theme, On the Job, will include highlights such as Sorry to Bother You, Out of Sight, Empire Records, Perfect Days and Someone Lives Here.
“For our 14th festival season, TOPS will present open-air screenings in parks across Toronto in a themed programme titled “On the Job” which shines a light on workers and collectives,” shares organizers.
“Whether conventional, fantastical, or radical, this film programme considers the ways our work impacts our lives and how we form communities with the people we spend our workdays (or nights) with.”
And like always, no advance tickets are required to attend. It’s free! Just pick a movie you’d like to watch, grab a blanket and settle in for a fun movie on a lovely summer night.
But as for what movie you’ll be watching – stay tuned. The list of movies has yet to be revealed so make sure to keep an eye out for updates. We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop.
We can’t wait for the summer season!
